"If people do not believe that mathematics is simple, it is only because they do not realize how complicated life is."

                                                                                   John von Neumann

I'm a mathematician, a mathematical science educator, a casual musician, and a film lover.

I also love cooking, writing, and Aussie rules football.

I hold a PhD in mathematics under supervision of Dr. Vera Roshchina (UNSW) and Prof. Andrew Eberhard (RMIT University). My PhD research was on theoretical optimisation. In particular, I worked on geometry for structured optimisation problems, such as facial structure for convex sets, polyhedral theory, conic optimisation, etc. My previous research work was in geometry group theory under supervision of Dr. Lawrence Reeves at the University of Melbourne.

I'm confident that I can live and breathe mathematics and music for the rest of my life.

Sad news from International House, University of Melbourne

Mr Peter Cole was involved in a kayak accident Sunday evening on 16th October at Philip Island. Peter is still missing.  There are volunteer marine rescue team continues working on it and police enquiry still underway. The tribute for Peter was held on Saturday 12th November 2016 at International House.

I have worked with Peter for three years as a staff member at International House. Peter was a great man with enormous compassion and empathy to others around him. Peter was at my first research departmental talk when I started my Master's degree. Peter and Sylvie Cole both gave me support when I was going through some really tough times.

It is a great loss not just for me, but also for International House, the University of Melbourne, the whole community, even the world...
